Biography

Painter / printmaker Saige Shoup is a class of 2028 soon-to-be college student at Bard University in New York State. Originally from Charleston, South Carolina, much of her work reflects her southern beginnings.

Shoup delves into the topic of place in her work, with an affinity for the abandoned. She is most inspired by paintings which distort the conventional, or rouse the viewer with unsettling confrontation.

Two years at the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities gave her the resources to create many of her most recent works. Her art has been recognized by multiple Scholastic Awards through a national Gold Medal, 3 Gold Keys in Painting, 3 in Printmaking, and multiple Silver Keys in Ceramics & Glass. She has also received an Artistic Merit Award from the National K-12 Ceramics Exhibition and the Mary Anne Yanko Award from SCGSAH for painting.
