This slab built vase is intentionally complicated. Its simple form contrasts the complex imagery and resembles a city skyline, adopting an asymmetrical appearance in order to accentuate that image. I paid close attention to detail in mark making and use of line as a main element. A centered strip rhythmically connects all aspects of the composition. My intention with the imagery was to contrast interconnectivity and solitude. On one side I used birds, an intertwined and connected population, and telephone wires, which physically connect everything. On the other, to illustrate solitude, I carved out a lone figure and a single street light, the face of the figure obscured. The sides are simply a transition between the two concepts.
